These are off-topic for any subject on this website but I came across some Ethiopian musical instruments I know nothing about.
If anyone knows something about either sort please let me know via an email.
These two small drums have a striker inside.
This is apparently played with a bow. Musical folk instruments in Ethiopian are said to often be made by the musician from found items and this certainly fits the bill. The tuning peg is a bent rusty nail.
(The first ten are larger images of the same plants as were shown on the previous page. Those share the same parents. There may be two peruvianus forms involved with the plants in the other images and some of those are additional views of other plants shown. Pachanot was a parent in all cases.)
F1 hybrids produced by George Fuller (using both directions of crossing) for Trichocereus pachanot X Trichocereus peruvianus:
Cat-faced spider (Araneus gemma)
AKA Common chicory
This European species is a fairly common highway and roadside plant around here.
These images were taken in Big Bend, California.
Rhus diversiloba
Poison oak
It is the end of August now. Soon all of the leaves will turn red and orange.
Tanacetum parthenium
AKA Feverfew
This is a useful medicinal plant.
Spilogale gracilis is also known as the western spotted skunk or it sometimes is called a civet cat (the latter is locally common but also refers to a completely different animal).
These are valuable predators of rodents and yellow-jacket nests.
Monochamus scutellatus
AKA Spotted Pine Sawyer
